There and Back Again

So, I’ve not been very good at updating…which is honestly not surprising. Not at all considering that I’ve got an enormous amount of schoolwork to do this semester, a show that is taking up all of my free time and a part-time job. Yeah. Not surprising to anyone that I haven’t been good about updating or talking about my plans.

Well, in case you haven’t already gathered, Geoff, Esther and I went to the U.K. to visit Chelsea. It’s a trip that we started planning back in August when Chelsea left for school. It finally came and so, here I am updating about my trip. Sorry this is super long.

Here we go!

Photo Journal: Week 4- February 6

Photo of cupcake and such...

Yesterday was my birthday and so I decided that for this weeks photo journal, I’d take a photo of one of the cupcakes my parents brought me along with some of the presents I was given…the most obvious of these being the Toblerone that Jackie gave me as a Cabin Pressure reference.

Daily Mail Crowned the Online King

It had to be one of the most interesting and disturbing tweets to come across my Twitter timeline in the last week: “How did the Daily Mail  conquer America? The UK tabloid has overtaken @NYTimes  as world’s most popular newspaper website” it read from BBC World.  It was and still is a good question. How did the Daily Mail become the most popular newspaper website?

Lucky for me and anyone else who saw this tweet come across their timeline, the BBC provided a quick and easy breakdown as to what the Daily Mail did to become the most popular online newspaper website. Basically, what it boils down to is very simple (though the BBC article goes into more depth):  they made the format of their website extremely appealing by using tons of pictures, and focused heavily on celebrity news.

Skull with Hamlet Script

I’m getting better. I’m only a few behind and I’m hoping to catch up entirely by next week. We shall see.

Anyway, this photo is representative as to how I will be spending the next seven weeks of my life. As many people know I don’t just makes films, but I also dabble in theater. Particularly in Shakespearean theater where I am primarily a stage manager. Our big spring show is Hamlet if you couldn’t tell, and Victor was kind enough to model for me as I took his photo with my script.

P.S.- You’ll probably also get some updates on how Hamlet is going as production progresses. So stay tuned for that!

Photo Journal: Week 2- January 24

I still stand by my last post. I am absolutely horrible at keeping to my own deadlines. We will try and get back on track this week. I absolutely promise.

Anyway, the photo above is actually one of the fingerless mittens that Jackie made me for Christmas. I thought they truly summed up my personality in a nutshell and as such deserved to be on my blog. Particularly because I got them on Saturday, so they are very new in my life!

Photo Journal: Week One- January 9

Well, things haven’t changed much in 2012 have they? I’m still behind on the things that I have to do. Hence why this photo is late being posted. The first week of January left me extremely excited about what the year would hold, but it also left uninspired photography-wise. And thus it took me a bit longer than usual to get my act together to take a photo. (This one isn’t really that good either, I just needed to actually get started on this project otherwise it wouldn’t happen.) I promise I’ll be on top of my game next week.

2011: A Year in Review

(Warning: This post will be long.)

2011 is ending with as much bang as it came in. Last year at this time I was wandering about Boston with friends (Chelsea, Becky T, Lucas, Mel, and my boyfriend, Geoff) as we explored what we could during the first-night festivities. We wandered about the city exploring everything from the Aquarium, to lunch in the North End, to participate on stage with Improv Boston, to seeing Shakespeare in song before ending 2010 on Copley Square with a giant dance party. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to ring in 2011.

Sherlock Is Coming Back!

Over this past summer, while I contemplated whether grad school was the right decision for me to make and tried to figure out what exactly I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I was introduced to the BBC’s Sherlock. It quickly became my absolute favorite show. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something where the characters, cinematography, score and script swept me up the way this show did. It actually reminded me of what I want to do in life. Work on film and television sets.

A Semester in Egypt

Well, here we go again folks! I’ve been in Cairo, Egypt for almost a week now. It’s been an interesting experience so far. I’m afraid that the cars will kill me, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. I’ll be sure to post to my travel blog, which many people followed last semester, http://assseenbybecky.blogspot.com, and I will post some new photography as the semester goes on. It will be awesome, I just know it!

So, that’s about all I have to say at the moment. More to come in the next semester!
